This year’s match is being played at the excellent Fulwell golf club, where last year we held the Baltic Company Cup and everyone agreed they were the best greens we played all year. The date (21 September) is a National holiday in Japan (Respect For the Aged Day) and hopefully will keep the market quiet .

10:30 - Bacon roll & coffee on arrival.

11:30 - 18 holes of match-play singles played in 4 balls, followed by light meal.

Smart casual dress code in club house (i.e. no jacket & tie required). After the meal the William Adams trophy will be presented to the winning team.

NOTE: New dates for this match.

This year’s match is being held at the Oxfordshire and the dates have moved from the traditional mid May to mid October. The switch was necessitated due to other clashing events which meant the Cardiff team were struggling with potential players. BEGS is very grateful to the Oxfordshire for their flexibility.

We were unable to secure suitable tee time for Sunday greensomes. so this year’s match is 2 rounds on Friday & Saturday, staying 2 nights with dinner and breakfast included. Total cost basis 2 people sharing is £399/player. Those preferring a single room it is £65 per person per night extra.

We have a firm 11 players and some in reserve, so likely we should manage to field a 12 man squad. It is not essential to play both days, so even if it is for 1 day/round it might still help the manager if you register your availability.

ANNUAL DINNER

After the season is completed the Society holds an annual dinner which is black tie dress code. To properly celebrate our 125th Anniversary the venue is the iconic Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall. We have endeavoured to keep the ticket price as reasonable as possible taking into consideration that costs keep rising in the hospitality sector and the magnificent venue.

It would be greatly appreciated if members could order their tickets some weeks in advance so that all necessary security and menu choices can be sorted/confirmed well before the event.

Ticket pricing:

Current working broker and all guests - £115 each

Retired members - £95 each

2 rounds of golf (Sunday & Monday morning tee off)

Staying on site with dinner Saturday, sharing rooms. Breakfast Monday included.

Entry to this event is now CLOSED

Anyone who has not previously played this event and would be interested to play in 2027, it is usually the same w/e and places start to fill up a week after the current year’s event has played (in order to reserve the slot for following year we have to book early).
